Study Background and Purpose: The Primary Nursing model involves a single nurse being responsible for providing appropriate and quality care throughout a patient's stay. The project aims to overcome the current organizational model (functional nursing) and implement the Primary Nursing care and organizational model at the Medical Clinic Unit of the AOU delle Marche.
Materials and Methods: The project is divided into a series of phases (estimated duration one year): - sharing and training of the care team; - organizational planning to establish timelines and implementation methods; - review of the nursing documentation currently in use and systematic introduction of care planning with NNN taxonomy; - pilot phase.
Results: At the end of the pilot phase, the degree of satisfaction of users and operators will be evaluated, as well as the improvement in care outcomes related to some pre-established NSOs before and after the implementation of the organizational and care model (CLABSI, pressure ulcers, number of falls).
Conclusions: The introduction of the innovative Primary Nursing organizational model, which aligns with the latest scientific literature, aims to ensure an improvement in the perceived quality of care for the assisted person and the achievement of health objectives. Furthermore, by valuing the nurse's autonomy, responsibility, and professionalism, it aims to increase their job satisfaction.
