Dr. Michele Meschi obtained his M.D. degree in 2002 from the University of Parma, Italy, and successfully completed his Internal Medicine residency training at the same university in 2007. In 2013, he completed his PhD in Pathophysiology of Renal Failure. After serving as Director of the Internal Medicine Unit of the Parma Local Health Authority at the Borgotaro and Fidenza hospitals, he has been the Director of the Internal Medicine and Diabetology Unit of the Modena Local Health Authority since 2024. For FADOI, he published the book “Hydroelectrolytic Alterations and Acid-Base Balance: Diagnosis and Therapy” (EDRA Editions, 2022). As Editor-in-Chief of the Italian Journal of Medicine, he is a member of the National Executive Committee of FADOI and a permanent guest of the FADOI Board of Directors of Emilia-Romagna. His areas of scientific interest include nephrology, hydroelectrolyte and acid-base balance disorders, arterial hypertension, heart failure, and cardiometabolic diseases. He has published numerous articles in national and international journals. Among his main research topics are iodinated contrast nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy, and cardiovascular damage from hypertension. He is a member of FADOI (Federation of Associations of Hospital Internists), SIN (Italian Society of Nephrology), SIIA (Italian Society of Arterial Hypertension), and ERA-EDTA (European Renal Association).

Laurent Bertoletti is a medical doctor and professor of medicine at the University Hospital of St-Etienne (CHUSE), France. He graduated as a chest physician in the Faculty of Medicine of St-Etienne, France. After a fellowship in the department of Pr. Gerald Simonneau (Paris), he created and developed the pulmonary hypertension program of the University Hospital of St-Etienne. After a post-doc in the “Angiology and Haemostasis” Department of Pr. H. Bounameaux (Geneva, Switzerland), he moved to the Vascular Medicine Department of the CHUSE, a department he has led for several years. His current research focuses on the management of vascular diseases, with specific attention to anticoagulant therapy in patients with pulmonary vascular diseases. He is highly involved in clinical research in venous thromboembolism (via the French INNOVTE network), with interaction in basic sciences (via the INSERM U1059 SAINBIOSE). He is the national coordinator of the RIETE registry and the co-coordinator of the French INNOVTE network (with Pr. Francis COUTURAUD, Brest, France). In 2021, he was elected chairman of the “Pulmonary Embolism” sub-assemble of the European Respiratory Society, a large scientific society that spans over 160 countries, prioritizing science, education, and advocacy to promote lung health. He authored more than 250 references on PubMed.

Behnood Bikdeli, MD, MS, is a clinician-investigator with training in cardiology and vascular medicine and is particularly interested in thrombotic diseases. He is involved in dozens of clinical trials and observational studies for venous or arterial thrombosis or antithrombotic therapy. He is an associate physician in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, and an investigator at the Yale New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE). Dr. Bikdeli is an associate editor for Thrombosis Research, associate editor for NEJM Journal Watch Cardiology, section editor for Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and an executive associate editor for JACC.

Giuseppe Mancia is Professor Emeritus at the University Milano-Bicocca after serving for 20 years as Chairman of the Division and Department of Internal Medicine at the same university, at the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, and Director of the Interuniversity (Universities of Milano, Milano-Bicocca, and Pavia) Center for Clinical Physiology and Hypertension. He was Chairman (2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2017, and 2023) of the Scientific and Organizing Committee of ESH meetings and is a past President of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), European Society of Hypertension (ESH), European Society of Clinical Investigation, and Italian Society of Hypertension. He chaired the Task Force of the ESH/ESC Hypertension Guidelines in 2003, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2018, and 2023. Professor Mancia is currently Chairman of the ESH Foundation. He is an honorary member of several hypertension and cardiovascular societies and has received many awards, including the Excellence Research Award of AHA, the Heymans Award of the International Society of Pharmacology, the Volhard and Tigersted Awards of the ISH, the Folkow Award of the ESH, the International Recordati Prize, the Invernizzi Prize for Medicine, the Spinoza Honorary Professorship of the University of Amsterdam, the Gold Medal of the Lorenzini Foundation, an Honorary Professorship of the University of Córdoba, an Honoris Causa Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Gdansk, Bucharest (Carol Davila), and Glasgow, the Hariri Memorial Lecture and Award, the MacDonald Award of McMaster University (Hamilton) and the Cleveland Clinic Lecture. Professor Mancia’s research focuses on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of hypertension, heart failure, coronary, and other cardiovascular diseases. He has edited more than 20 books on hypertension and cardiovascular diseases and published more than 2400 articles in peer-reviewed international journals. His articles have received more than 240,000 citations (H-index 182, Microsoft Academics, December 2021). He has been Deputy and Chief Editor of the Journal of Hypertension (1995-2021).

Dario Manfellotto, MD, has a specialization in internal medicine and nephrology. He is the President of the FADOI Foundation 2023-2025, and the Past President of FADOI, Scientific Society of Internal Medicine 2020-2022. He has also been a WHO consultant for health information and education. He is the author of many scientific publications in national and international journals, mainly on high blood pressure, gestational hypertension, renal diseases, hydroelectrolytic and acid-base disorders, amyloidosis, genetics of complex diseases and rare diseases, mechanisms and treatment of thrombosis, health communication and education, healthcare organization, and biomedical research methodology. He is also the author of the book “Le febbri di origine oscura” (Fever of unknown origin) (Ed. Pozzi, Roma 1987) and the co-author of “Scienza e informazione” (Science and information) (Ed. Laterza, Bari 1997) and “New age?” (Ed. Laterza, Bari 1999). He has received the International Life Award for scientific communication by “The Ageing Society” (October 27, 2001).
