Background and Study Purpose: The development of touch is proposed as a core nursing competency and an element of care through the adoption of caring massage. This nursing practice allows the nurse to recover the contact that predisposes to relationship and affection. The activities conducted since 2019 in the nursing clinic at Misericordia Hospital in Grosseto have led to an analysis of a case report of a treatment using caring massage® techniques. The synergy with the UOSD Corporate Organizational Well-being has increased the number of patients attending and has allowed for the sustainability of a qualitative phenomenological study currently being developed, which aims to strengthen contact and affection as a time for care.
Materials and Methods: Assessment according to the GNNN model (Gordon and NNN Taxonomy) and Likert scales. Interviews, direct observation, reflective journal, and massage according to the caring massage method.
Results: Significant improvements in the values of the Likert scales used for the parameters monitored during the treatment course. Testimony of the improvement in the treated person's perception of their quality of life through sharing their reflective journal with the assistant.
Conclusions: The case report is illustrative of a care profile that seems to demonstrate results that support the continuation of the clinic's activities and lays the groundwork for the pilot study to support the proposed care model to proceed.
